Anxiety Disorders

What it is

A diagnosed condition involving heightened feelings of tension and worry, often resulting in physical symptoms, behaviours and distortions in thinking.

Related Disorders:
Anxiety can be a result of genetics/biology and/or environmental factors. While moderate levels of anxiety can provide optimal performance, low and high levels of anxiety result in weak performance. The most common anxiety disorders in children and adolescents are Separation Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobia, Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Less common, but more debilitating: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Panic Disorder. Left untreated anxiety can lead to depression.
